Celtics Edges New york in the Longest Time Elapsed.
The Celtics Red Sox made things a little interesting this evening against the New york Yankees when the team recorded the longest running-time game in the history of the franchise. Things of course become sweetened considering who they had faced as well, their longtime rival. Luckily for them though they got a crisp 6-5 win in New york which notches them up at 4-1 on the season.
Anyone said a new York minute has got to be kidding around themselves, the game went everything but as it stretched out to an epic 19 innings. The Red Sox manager John Farrell made an interesting point when he cited, “All good things must come to a conclusion at some point”. Ferrell was obviously sarcastically commenting on the duration of the game as if it was as grueling as all that. He noted that it was one of those type of games that you simply had no idea how the end result would land. The Sox ended up handing the Yankees a few leads towards the latter stages of the game but finally recovered to seal the W.
The team was literally two simple strikes from calling it a day when the third baseman for New york, Chase Headley, hit a timely walk-off run off the potentially great relief pitcher Edward Mujica when closer Koji Uehara was taken out due to mishaps against headley last year. Unfortunately because of some recent bumbling on his end, he looks to be sadly demoted from the desired role of closer for the entirety of the season.
