College is more than just something after high school. It's where the a whole different world is opened up, and you have so many life choices to make. You must plan everything and be prepared for whatever you encounter.

Bring a bottle of water to school with you. Hydration is vital to stay alert and focused during classes. This is crucial, especially if you have one class after another without any time to eat. You will be able to remain focused and alert if you drink water during the day. You can even refill your bottle at a water fountain.

Don't wait until the start of school to map out the locations of all your classes. Find out how much time it takes to get from one class to another, and plan your route accordingly. Scout out other important locations you'll need to know, and circle them on a map.

Ride the bus to class. You will save money and it doesn't take much more time! You will save time by not having to hunt for a parking space on campus. By using the bus system you can save money on gas and parking permits. It is another way of going green.

Cultivate a good relationship with your professor. Your number one resource in college is your professor, and they are able to provide you with a lot of assistance. Never be afraid to ask them questions, and help them when you can. A positive relationship can help your grades and improve your learning capability.

Choose classes that challenge and interest you rather than ones that have a reputation for being "easy." It is beneficial to challenge yourself. Difficult classes can help you learn more, and may even provide you with valuable contacts that can be of assistance when you begin your career.

Plan on studying on a daily basis. Even though you may find other things to do, make sure to find time to study. You need to spend at least a couple of hours a day to catch up on your studies and do some research. Even if you don't feel you need to that day, stick with it. It will help you cement the behavior into a habit.

You should always register for your classes as soon as you possibly can. Classes can fill up faster than you think, and you may miss out and be forced to wait another semester to get the ones you need. Sign up for your classes as quickly as you are able to.

If you're looking for a job to help you get through school, visit the career office at your college. Many times they have part time jobs within the campus and in the surrounding areas.

If you drink coffee, do not spend a lot of money on it. It just costs more than is necessary. Make coffee yourself. While it's not as easy as getting it from a coffee place while you're out, you can save quite a bit of cash this way. Good coffee machines are not that expensive.

Do more than just take classes to find where your interests lie. Go around campus and get involved. Join clubs and obtain a work-study job. There are plenty of things to choose from. Aim to try something new at least once per week.

Don't rely on exploring various electives to help you choose a major. For example, there are many clubs, groups and internship programs available on campus. Try to join clubs and look at work-study jobs. There are numerous activities every week on the average college campus. Set out to try one new thing a week that you have never done before.

Never submit the first draft of a report or assignment. Allow yourself to have enough time to make changes to your paper when necessary. Instead of just going over it, create a second draft as well. You can proofread your second draft and make it crisp. This will help you turn in the best paper possible.
