Are Stretch Marks an Inevitable Part of Carrying A Child for many Women?
It's only natural for any girl's imagination to become more dreamy, once they know they are going to get a baby. Imagining yourself cradling a newborn within your arms while you sing them a lullaby can occupy many an idle moment during what used to be called your confinement. Most of the time what it is you're holding doesn't seem to have a face and then there isn't much of a clue about whether it is a boy or girl but it is definitely a newborn. This, of course, is what you experience in your better days! Unfortunately, it's stretch marks on your stomach area and breasts which you primarily daydream about on the not so good days!
So, can it be said that all women that have a baby end up with stretch marks? Back in the summer months of 2013 a piece of research about genetics in relation to acquiring stretch marks was widely announced around the internet. This research suggested that a mutation of the elastin gene may be linked to those who suffer from stretch marks and could give hope to those that don't have this. In all, 4 mutated family genes have been found in the DNA of stretchmark sufferers but elastin came up as the most important.
Other studies had previously revealed that the elastin blueprint produces healthy proteins that are not found in loosened skin which is why elastin was already known to be responsible for forming stretchy skin. Looking towards a future focus on products starting to be available such as skin treatments or medications to make the skin more elastic could be an upshot of further research in this area.
Stretch marks, or striae gravidarium as they are known technically, may not be a problem at all for you, especially if neither your Mum nor your Grannie suffered from them after they had been with child. Keeping the extra weight steady rather than put pounds on in the last semester of pregnancy is the best tip we can recommend for those whose family members do tend to get stretch marks. Of course, during pregnancy the skin needs to stretch a great deal, especially around the belly and a weight gain of between 25 and 35 pounds is normal. But stretch marks tend to form when the dermis layer, which is the middle layer of skin, rips apart because of tension from the other layers that grow too quickly for this to cope with.
Dark red striations usually show up as stretch marks for paler complexioned women but as time goes on they calm down to white or silver. This is not the case for those with darker skin, on the other hand, because white colored striations show up immediately and have a tendency to stay the same colour until some thing is done about them.
Of course, these days there are plenty of therapies about for removing stretch marks permanently, so whatever your genes do it's not the end of the world. Recell treatment, for example, to grow healthy looking cells and replace the damaged skin of stretch marks, is available at a number of clinics all over the London region. So keep concentrating on those positive dreams and forget everything about the negative ones. Why spend such a wonderful period of time feeling miserable even for a single instant!
