Appointment Setting: Is it Any Easier These Days?
When you wish to meet up with someone, what do you do? Would you send your PA? Do you write them a letter? Have you got a local pigeon fancier who keeps specially trained birds to fly to your main associates? Perhaps you have inherited your grandfather's messenger boy, although he might be a little bit past running messages. Perhaps you only contact people within shouting range and hang out of your window with a loud hailer whenever you need to tell them something. No, I didn't believe so.

Most people these days have a wide choice of technological ways to make an appointment with somebody. One of the most popular is the email. This is fine if your contactee is near a computer or mobile phone. They also need to have that device turned on and of course they need to be logged into their emails. They could of course, have one of those pop up alerts on their screen or a sound that informs them an e-mail has arrived.

There is though, a number of problems with this commonly used method. First of all, it is surprising how many people do not want to be bothered with every piece of news, advertising and gossip that comes into our mail boxes, therefore many people turn them off. They turn off the WiFi, they turn off the alerts and sometimes they turn off all their devices. Not everyone works in front of a computer and not everyone has good enough eyesight to read all those messages on the mobile. Even if they work on a computer they can't allow themselves to be distracted by every e-mail that comes in.

There is also Face Book. Many of us have a love- hate connection with social networking for many of the same reasons that we do not pick up our email messages. We do not want to be interrupted. We do not want our mental processes to be filled with trivia. We are on the move and cannot see everything on our mobile. Also, social media can be very addicting; once you go into it there are a million posts that you want to comment on so it is avoided in work time.

Perhaps the most successful way to get an instant reply is just to text the person you need to contact. If they are not in a meeting or working on some complicated problem, they may read it. There are though many situations when they will have their mobiles turned off, so even this is not fool- proof.

With all these drawbacks it is very hard to guarantee that you will make contact. Sometimes though you don't need to make instant contact, you just need to make sure you are answered. This situation occurs when you are trying to make an appointment with a new prospect for your company. One sure method is to recruita telesales expert. Leave it to them to set an appointment for you both to meet or talk on the phone. Phones may have been around a long time but they have become no less useful as time has passed, rather the opposite.
